About This Literary Corner.

Our world is ever changing. Now faster than ever before. The last decades have seen the disintegration of our ecosystem. Literature has taken notice. One of the most powerful tools for change. We want to be a platform for authors who wish to speak for nature. Its beauty, its magical and terrifying force and the need to maintain it for all creatures’ sake.

We welcome authors from all backgrounds. Inclusion is extremely important to us. We look for authenticity and vulnerability. No toxic masculinity here please.

Why Seaweed?

Well, we do not sell sushi. Really sorry to disappoint but it’s not the stomach hunger we cure. It just felt fitting to name this journal after a seemingly boring and often overlooked element. I guess we will seem like that to you at first. Just another magazine. Quietly trying in the background. But seaweed, the plant, is mighty. And so we hope to be too.

Payment.

We pay 30USD per accepted submission. We are new and money is tight but we want to do this right. You can tick the tip jar box option on Submittable to help us pay you always.

Submission Guidelines.

Nothing you haven’t heard before.

  • We look for unpublished work.

  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Please notify us if your work has found a home elsewhere before we get back to you. We will cheer for you no matter what.

  • Please submit only though Submittable. You will soon be able to submit directly to our website too, but we are not there yet.

  • If you had some help from AI, please disclose this.

  • It can take up to 6 months to get back to you. We are tiny and mothers and wives and workers and and and….But if you choose to use our expedited options we will get back to you within two working weeks max.

  • Make sure your work has some nod to nature. Even the slightest mention of our natural world enmeshed in your love affair story or woven into your nonfiction about how depressing life can be, will be enough to make your work relevant for this journal.
